Trying Harder Doesn't Always Work (a chapter from P.S. You're A Genius)

Listen to a chapter.

In this episode, I read an excerpt from my first published book, P.S. You’re A Genius! Oh man, this is one of the biggest lessons I’ve had to learn in my life: that trying harder doesn’t always work. This chapter comes from part 4 of the book called “The New Playbook for Success.” It’s the part of the book where I break down some unconventional rules for success. (Because once you know that you’re a genius, you’ll need a new set of rules to play by). This is also one of my favorite chapters because I think the writing is really funny (while also hitting home a major point). AKA: my writing style. I hope you enjoy it!

In this episode, you'll learn:

  • About my ungodly number of attempts to get hired at Lululemon when I was in university.

  • That someone not getting what you want ends up being the best thing that ever happened to you.

  • That the conventional advice of “doubling down” doesn’t always turn into the results you want. And, how I learned that one the hard way.

  • What surrender really is and how to practice it in your life.
