The 2 Types of People You Should Take Advice From

Who do you listen to when it matters most?

In this week’s episode, that’s what we’re exploring. Whenever you’re on the verge of something new, big, or cool, the peeps around you tend to give you their opinion. “Are you really sure you want to do that? Will that even work? What if you fail?” So, the real question is: do you listen to their input or not? Look, I’ve had my fair share of odd endeavors over the years or unconventional life choices. (Read: quitting my 9-5 before starting it, moving to San Francisco with nothing but a dream, and re-inventing myself a zillion times). And, believe me: all sorts of folks wanna come outta the woodwork and offer me their unsolicited advice. So, this week, we’re figuring out how to navigate it together.

In this episode, you'll learn:

  • The two types of people you should take advice from when you’re doing something different with your life or pursuing a new path.

  • Why you don’t need to “convince” anyone of anything and you don’t need to rationalize or justify your choices. (I share how this was an old people-pleasing tendency I’ve had to kick to the curb!)

  • The life-changing tip I learned from Tim Ferriss about receiving annoying, unsolicited feedback and how to handle it gracefully.

  • How to decide if you should listen to someone’s advice… or NOT.

  • My tip for priming yourself before social situations where you feel like you’ll be asked pesky questions. (So, that you don’t end up in a 40-minute conversation about something you never wanted to discuss anyways).

  • About the power of tapping into your intuition to make big life choices.
